This discussion workshop follows up on the panel “The New Producers – Digital Art Presenters Crossing Industry Lines”, which takes place on Wednesday, August 24 at 1 pm.

Over the past two years, arts communities around the world have been pushed to innovate in order to create, present, and monetize their work in the context of the pandemic.
In particular, digital arts presenters—festivals, venues, and producers of exhibitions and events—are exploring new ways to operate and support their creative communities, notably by producing, publishing, and distributing digital content themselves.

This workshop will allow for a more diverse and in-depth discussion, inviting all artists, presenters, producers, distributors, and other members of the digital arts community to participate in a more informal setting.

Topics can include:

- The production of digital content: defining roles, developing tools and work processes, understanding the issue of copyright, sharing examples of producer-artist contracts and deals, finding the required manufacturing resources, etc.
- The distribution (both physical and digital) of digital content: monetization opportunities, online publishing, examples of distribution deals and contracts, environmental considerations, etc.
- The accessibility and discoverability of digital content: facilitators and barriers to accessibility, promotion and sales strategies, digital marketing issues, etc.

We will conclude with a conversation about how to share expertise between organizations beyond this workshop, a topic addressed in collaboration with the REPAIRE (Regroupement de pairs des arts indépendants de recherche et d'expérimentation) and the IMAA (Independent Media Arts Alliance).
