PANEL: The New Producers - Digital Art Presenters Crossing Industry Lines

Over the past two years, the pandemic has pushed art circles around the world to innovate in order to create, present, and monetize their work. In particular, digital arts presenters—festivals, venues, and producers of exhibitions and events—are exploring new ways to operate and support their creative communities by producing, publishing, and distributing digital content.

This panel brings together Québec and Canadian organizations that have ventured into these new territories, to present some of their initiatives and discuss the challenges and opportunities they face:

- Sporobole, which has produced and published its Déjà-vu platform that includes 17 immersive and virtual sound works

- Molior, whose exhibition projects and art productions now also cover VR works

- The MacKenzie Art Gallery, whose many digital initiatives include Ender Gallery, an artist residency inside the game Minecraft

- MUTEK, which adapts audiovisual performances into VR works and publishes them on platforms such as Steam as part of its Immersive Collection project

- The Society for Arts and Technology (SAT), which is extending its expertise in the coproduction and distribution of immersive dome works into new formats, such as VR, via its Satellite project

For those who would like to continue the discussion on issues of production, distribution, and accessibility in new digital worlds, a workshop will be held on Friday from 10 am to 12 pm.
