As live music and touring continue to be at the heart of the industry, what is the best way to map out strategies for a more sustainable and accessible future for live music? Undeniably, the pandemic has redefined how people consume music through their screens. The metaverse and decentralized web3 thinking have introduced new infrastructure that bridges the gap between physical and virtual musical experiences—raising questions about the wellbeing of its fan communities. From environmentally conscious practices to accessibility and safety, the panel maps out how to build a better future across live music’s current multidimensional ecosystem. Panelists include Élyanne Coursol-Dion, Executive Producer of Voulez-Vous Productions, a non-profit event production organization supporting the talents of LGBTQ2S+ artists; Renee Dumaresque, Co-Founder of Toronto collective Crip Rave, an electronic music collective and event platform prioritizing crip, mad, Deaf, and disabled partygoers and talent within more accessible rave spaces; and Malcolm Levy, Co-Founder of digital-physical electronic music community RefractionDAO and previous Director of the New Forms Festival. The conversation will be moderated by music educator and recording artist Peggy Hogan.
